Logistics were initially outsourced as a non-core activity. The resulting situation was sub-optimal and thanks to the affordable solution offered by BizBloqs, it was possible to bring everything in-house. Delayed insights and accuracy challenges are a thing of the past.

Original situation
Je m’appelle started off with fully outsourced logistics. This made ense at the time, so they could focus on executing and further developing their core strengths. However, as they found their logistic insights limited and stock updates delayed as much as 24 hours, they could never really make availability claims with confidence. Furthermore, clothes have a high frequency of returns. Je m’appelle never really managed to identify the right process with their outsourcing partner and had ongoing struggles with a flawed process.
Starting the transformation journey together
Lantaarn Publishers invited BizBloqs to evaluate the logistic needs and both parties sat down to analyze all the relevant processes together. The features and scale of the desired WMS were determined and the details of the necessary integration with their Exact financial situation were analyzed. BizBloqs then implemented its Knight WMS with a seamless integration to Exact online, to turn all the paper processes into digital ones. With handheld scanners at the heart of the warehouse operations and the definition of complex location management capabilities, Lantaarn Publishers truly transformed their warehouse to a digital environment
Unexpected findings
Lantaarn Publishers required all products to be scanned for picking. In practice, it turned out that it was often necessary to pick hundreds of the same title and it wasn’t very useful to scan each and every item during picking. BizBloqs was called again and a change was implemented. The Knight WMS allows for a product to be scanned once and to confirm manually that the fifty or hundred copies e.g. are indeed picked and ready for the next step in the logistic process

Current situation
Lantaarn Publishers can pick all their orders with scanners, effortlessly finding the right location in their warehouse.
